DUNCAN MITCHELL, Cycling Instructor
Duncan Mitchell brings a broad and diverse background in sports to his role as a cycling instructor at Kiva Conditioning, from wrestling and Tae Quan Do to Ironman triathlons and golf. He has completed 4 Ironman Canada competitions and qualified for, and completed, 2 Hawaii Ironman World Championships. For the last 4 years Duncan has attended the PACTOUR training camp in Arizona, which trains riders for ultra-distance rides such as RAM and coast-to-coast rides.
Duncan successfully makes his indoor cycling classes of value to both indoor and outdoor riders alike. He does this by guiding his students in developing efficient form and technique and by structuring his classes to mimic the effort and cadence most often found in outdoor cycling. Duncan ensures that everyone can enjoy the benefits of his cycling classes no matter the level of fitness or cycling experience by teaching how to pace and work at one’s own levels.
When not cycling, you will find Duncan swimming, running or playing golf. He is an avid reader of mystery and science fiction books.
Favorite movies or books:
‘Lord of the Rings’, both the books and movies.
People might be surprised to know:
“I was cited in ‘Scientific America’ for identifying a second solution to a mathematical puzzle that was thought to have a single unique solution.”
Favorite saying, quote or motto:
“If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.”
